For any fan of live blues music, the Nincasi Festival of Blues in Cisternino, early July 07, should have been on their list of “Must See”. For those of you who missed this first event organised by Nincasi Pub, shame on you.
The highlight of the weekend was undoubtedly Sidney “Guitar Crusher” Selby, a 76 year old blues man from North Carolina, with a phenomenal, big baritone voice united by Emiliano Degli’Innocenti, blues musician extraordinaire, on tour with The Guitar Crusher.
Guitar Crusher electrified a small audience; thrilled by the resonating aura of this impressive man of the Blues with his insatiable appetite for delighting the crowds with his gifted harmonica and guitar playing. Without hesitation and exhilarated, we joined in, when invited by the Master, to the tunes of Ray Charles, Ben E. King to mention but a few of his renditions from his extensive repertoire of classic originals to recent day compositions.
At one a.m., we returned home with the memory of blues engraved on our souls.
